Dodge Challenger SRT-8 by CCG Automotive, photos
CCG Automotive located in Monschau, Germany, created this Dodge Challenger SRT-8 wrapped in a special vinyl. The wrap offers a combination of flashy green and carbon white colors with contrasting elements in black. In contrast to the bright film-coating color, the screens of the Coupe were tinted in a dark shade.
On the technical level, the Germans replaced the stock 6.1 liter V8 of the SRT8 for a 7.0 liter Stroker HEMI V8, which develops a 600hp and 638 Newton meters of torque. The engine is accompanied by a new exhaust system with two square exhaust-pipes and a Prins Liquefied Petroleum Gas facility with two carburetors and a 120 liter tank.
The muscle car rides on three-part Asanti wheels of the sizes 9×22 and 10×22 inches, painted in black with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Rollers of the dimensions 265/35R22 on the steering axle and 295/30R22 on the drive axle. It also has a KW coilover suspension with adjustable rebound damping and the wheel wells have been widened.
On the subject of looks, the exterior received LSD doors allowing the large doors to swing skywards. On the inside, the seats as well as the dashboard and headliner were stitched and refined with soft Alcantara and leather in anthracite/black in combination with red seams and edge framing. The factory-installed MyGIG hard disk audio system with Radio, CD/DVD player and touchscreen as well as the SRT Option Package II with 13 Kicker SRT high-performance loudspeakers, a 322-watt Kicker SRT amplifier and a 200-watt Kicker SRT subwoofer complement the interior.

2013 Acura ILX photos
Fast-changing market conditions have challenged and inspired every automaker to invent, adapt and innovate at a rapid pace to meet new demands. For Acura the result is the all-new ILX, Acura's latest high-content, value-for-money compact luxury sedan. Featuring a windswept exterior design with 5-passenger cabin, a flat-bottom unit body that minimizes aerodynamic drag and a choice of three powertrains – including Acura's first gasoline-electric hybrid – the new ILX delivers magnificently in the value, performance, style and luxury arenas. Of course, the ILX is every bit an Acura, designed and equipped from the ground up to satisfy Acura customers with benchmark new technologies in its class.
YOUTH WITH MATURITY
The target customers for the new ILX are the younger members of Generation X and members of Generation Y— successful 20- and 30-somethings moving into the luxury car ranks but looking for high-value propositions in their purchases. They are young business professionals who are most likely single or soon to be married. They live in larger cities, are very much still in touch with a youthful mindset and lifestyle, and yet now embrace adult proprieties and values. In short, like the ILX, they embody "youth with maturity."
Style, substance, performance, efficiency and environmental stewardship are all important to these emerging luxury customers, and the Acura ILX combines all of these qualities in one vehicle— solidly below the $30,000 price point that is considered the gateway to luxury.
THE COMPETITION
Competition is fast evolving in the entry-level luxury segment that the ILX enters. Key competitors for the new ILX include vehicles such as the Audi A3, the Lexus CT200h, and new premium mainstream offerings such as the Buick Verano. More than any other arena in the luxury car category, this segment is exceptionally price and value conscious, making the ILX's standard and available features even more essential.
STANDARD AND AVAILABLE FEATURES
The ILX model range includes the 150-horsepower 4-cylinder 2.0L version that comes highly equipped with standard features such as automatic climate control, a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission and unique Amplitude Reactive Dampers for outstanding ride quality. The ILX 2.4L features the robust performance of a 2.4L inline 4-cylinder engine with 201-horsepower, a quick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission, and 17-inch diameter wheels. The ILX Hybrid utilizes an efficient 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that teams with an electric motor to produce 111 horsepower while also achieving an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 38 mpg on the highway.
In addition to the long list of standard features, available upgrades include a Premium package and a Technology Package, which contain features such as an Acura/ELS Surround® Premium Audio System, HID headlights, navigation system and much more.
Safety is a design tenet that is critically important to the Acura Division. Accordingly, the new ILX includes myriad safety systems and designs to protect not only the vehicle occupants, but also occupants of other vehicles as well as pedestrians. Some of these safety items include an Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE)™ body structure, a complement of airbags, and Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with a new Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering system that can help the driver avoid trouble. Internal testing* indicates that the ILX should achieve top safety ratings in both federal (NHTSA) and independent (IIHS) crash tests— including a "5-Star" overall vehicle score from NHTSA and a TOP SAFETY PICK designation from the IIHS.
*The 2013 ILX had not been crash tested as of March 2012. However, Acura expects that the ILX will receive a 5-STAR Overall Vehicle Score in governmental testing and GOOD ratings in all tests by the independent Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Saleen S5S photos
There are many names you could associate with Mustang tuning, but few are as iconic as Steve Saleen. The American tuner extraordinaire made a name for himself tweaking the Ford muscle coupe under the Saleen brand until he left his own company to start SMS Supercars. But now that the two have been reunited, word has it that Saleen is moving ahead with plans to produce a new mid-engine exotic to follow in the footsteps of the famed S7.
Saleen, as you may recall, branched out of tuning pony cars with the S7 in 2000. The car packed a 7.0-liter V8 that was later twin-turbocharged up to 750 horsepower to make it good for a 0-60 run in under three seconds and a top speed of nearly 250 mph. The car endures as an American performance icon, but while an S5S Raptor concept (pictured above) was showcased four years ago at the New York Auto Show, the schism between the two Saleen companies kept it from ever seeing the light of day.
With that ugliness now behind us, however, Autoweek reports that Steve Saleen is intent on picking up where the S7 and S5S left off. Getting to that point is expected to take Saleen a while, but in the meantime, he's working at integrating the two operations. The SMS facility in California will continue building the cars – White Label for mild upgrades, Yellow Label for supercharged models and Black Label for the works – while his Saleen facility in Michigan will distribute the parts. Look for a tuned Chevrolet Camaro to come rumbling around the corner in the near future.

AMS Alpha Omega GT-R Top Speed Record: 233mph. video

After smashing the GT-R 1/4 mile record at the TX2K12 with an 8.62 at 173.81mph pass, the Alpha Omega GT-R went straight to the Texas Mile in an attempt to reset the GT-R top speed record of 218mph. The team wrote a report of the whole event at the end of March and we are able to share it with you now.
The event started on the Friday. The morning was spent preparing the Alpha Omega for tech inspection. A 1/2 mile shakedown pass was performed early afternoon. With much more power than what they had worked with last October, the Alpha Omega was literally flying down the track. Nonetheless, Ivan Phipps, the projects technician and driver for the Alpha Omega kept at it – pulling a 221mph top speed late Friday afternoon which was enough to claim the record!
With the absence of wind Saturday morning, the decision was made to press on. The Alpha Omega only used approximately 1050whp of its available 1600whp on Friday’s record pass. With approximately 1250whp dialed in, the crew wanted to see if the car could at least break the 230mph barrier before heading home for the weekend.
On Saturday’s one and only pass down the Mile, Ivan was able to get the Omega to the 1/2 mile marker with a speed of 197mph. The car ran loose with stock aero and absence of a rear wing, but the throttle remained pegged to the floor. Ivan passed the 1 mile marker at 233.1mph.
It was a new record for the R35 GT-R, but not without a hitch. The Omega hit a dip in the runway past the mile marker which caused it to bounce. Combined with the effect of the parachute, the force was enough to lift the rear wheels of the Omega off the ground. When the car rebounded, it lost control, sliding more than 90 degrees sideways.
We plan to continue testing the limits of the GT-R platform with improved aero and a final drive gear.
